FREE WORKSHOPDocumenting children’s ideas of ‘kindness’
A 45 minute workshop exploring children's perspectives on ‘kindness’. Children will be invited to contribute to a book as authors and illustrators. They will explore their own experiences of kindness through storytelling, drawing and writing.
The workshop will aim to encourage children to generate an artistic response to the notion of kindness that can be recorded for potential publication in a book. The book will be developed by Karuna and QPAC and may be called The Little Book of Kindness.
The workshop will begin with an introduction to the space and then the reading/performance of a story or stories that relate to the notion of kindness. This will lead to drawing, writing or making something that articulates children’s responses to the theme. These responses in form of images and texts will then be scanned into the computer for potential use in the book, while children can take their work home with them.
The event will be facilitated by two visual artists under the direction of Backbone Youth Arts, with volunteers from Karuna Hospice administering the workshop, securing permission forms and scanning the materials.
