Meet a king made out of dough. Have dinner with a monster. Laugh at the adventures of a naughty duckling.

Have we got some stories for you!

These popular stories emerge from dozens of suitcases as three curious workers transform a storeroom into an enchanting place of music and play.

Innovatively staged and brilliantly performed, this show celebrates the possibilities of storytelling and the power of imagination.

Winner of the national Helpmann Award for Best Children's Presentation 2008

Based on stories by award-winning children's author Pamela Allen

Auslan Interpretation will be signing the performances of Mr McGee and the Biting Flee on Thursday 10 June, 11.45am and Saturday 12 June, 10.00am. Seating with appropriate sightlines available. Please indicate seating requirements when booking.

"If you have children, you should definitely see this show. If you don't have children, borrow some. You'll love the show and they'll love you for taking them." Adelaide Theatre Guide

"Fast-paced inventive theatre - cows appear out of sliding doorways, balloons become heads and ducks float up in wells as no imagination is spared... this show will be another national best seller!" The Sunday Mail

About the company

A fantasy world of cities and urban environments tumbles out of a collection of suitcases. Storytelling skills of the actors inspire students to devise their own narratives. Books in the series can be used as stimulus texts prior to viewing a performance.

Ages: 4+

Essential Learnings QCAR Framework

Ways of working - English

Interpret how people, characters, places, events and things have been represented

Knowledge and understanding - Speaking and listening
Nonverbal elements, including body language, facial expressions and gestures, add interest and emphasis, clarify meaning and are monitored by listeners

Assessable element
Responding
E.g. Tell the story of a mosquito in the room without using words. Show the journey from frustration to joy with body language, movement, and facial expression as you set out to catch the annoying insect.  You may need to try several times before you succeed!
- Follow the imaginary insect around the room with your eyes
- Twist and turn your body as if the insect is inside your shirt
- Give a big smile when you finally catch the mosquito!
