Children love to laugh. But what do they find funny and why? This work provides the opportunity to ask 'what makes us laugh?' and use language elements to express a response.

Ages: 5+

Essential Learnings QCAR Framework

Ways of working - English

Make judgements and justify opinions about their enjoyment and appreciation of texts

Knowledge and understanding - Language elements
Auditory, spoken, visual and non-verbal elements provide details necessary for making meaning about representation of people, places and things

Assessable element
Reflecting
E.g. Remember the last time you laughed out loud. Draw the scene first then use words to tell the story.
It might have been something that happened without words. Did it happen to you or were you watching? Why do we laugh sometimes when it's not really funny?
- Do only humans find things to laugh about
- Make the call of a 'laughing' kookaburra
- Why are they called a 'laughing hyena'

Before
