Public Transport
There are many easy ways to get to us, whether it be via a short walk from the city across Victoria Bridge, driving and parking in one of the nearby car parks or using one of the public transport options that stop just outside the front door or within easy strolling distance.
By Train
South Brisbane train station is opposite QPAC on Grey Street. During the festival, a designated pedestrian crossing will be in place for access between QPAC and South Brisbane train station.
School Groups
Travel Free with TransLink*
To support the many schools that attend the festival, children 8 years and under who have an Out of the Box Festival ticket will be entitled to travel free of charge with TransLink on selected Queensland Rail services from their nominated boarding station to the festival at South Bank. One (1) adult per two (2) children is permitted to travel for free provided the group is pre-booked via the Queensland Rail group booking officer. Travel is only valid on the day of their booking.
This offer is only available to people attending ticketed events as part of the Out of the Box Festival 2012.
How to Book
To take advantage of this great offer, simply book festival tickets for your group via the School Booking Form and then pre-book your train travel by calling the Queensland Rail Group Bookings Office on 1300 768 595 or alternatively email group.bookings@qr.com.au with your details before the 18th May 2012.
You will require the following information when booking your free travel with TransLink:
- Number of children
- Number of accompanying adults
- Dates
- Travel times
- Points of travel
- If wheelchair access or the like is required

When crossing the road from the South Brisbane train station to the QPAC, please ensure that you use the dedicated pedestrian crossing. When travelling with Queensland Rail, please ensure children follow the direction of accompanying adults and rail staff at all times. When boarding, all passengers must stay behind the yellow line until directed to board the train.
*Free travel with TransLink is only available on selected Queensland Rail Services. It is not available for TransLink bus or ferry services. To take advantage of the free travel the group must pre-book with Queensland Rail Group Travel.
By Bus
The Cultural Centre Busway Station, South Bank, is served by TransLink bus routes. The busway station is the first stop outside the city, in Zone 1, directly south of Victoria Bridge. Use the Melbourne Street pedestrian overpass to reach all venues on the festival site.
By CityCat
The CityCat service runs along the Brisbane River between Hamilton and St Lucia. South Bank wharves 1 and 2 are festival stops.
By Taxi
To the designated taxi set-down and pick-up area on the Grey Street side of QPAC. Free taxi phones are located in the main Melbourne Street foyer, the Cremorne Theatre Lobby and the coffee shop level of the Playhouse, as well as at Stage Door.

Charter Bus
There are a number of chartered bus companies who can arrange transportation for your school. A bus set-down area is available in Grey Street and in Stanley Place outside the State Library of Queensland. Out of the Box personnel will direct bus drivers to long term parking options away from this area. If arriving by bus please consider where your first activity is located within the Cultural Precinct to determine which is the closest bus set-down area. Out of the Box staff can provide assistance in making this decision. You may wish to arrive and depart from different bus set-down areas. Please discuss this with your bus driver.
