Rose Myers
Rosemary Myers is the Artistic Director of Windmill, a Company that creates and presents work for family audiences nationally and internationally. Prior to this position in early 2008 she was the Artistic Director of Arena Theatre Company. Under her direction Arena won the International Association of Theatre for Young People Award for "inspiring and provocative ways of expressing a new theatrical language which genuinely engages young people in these contemporary times". Prior to working at Arena, Rose was the Artistic Director of the Union Theatre at Melbourne University. Her independent work includes: ABC Television, Back to Back Theatre Company, Victorian College of the Arts, Queensland Theatre Company and Sydney Theatre Company and she was a Creative Director for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony.
She has been a guest lecturer for Melbourne University, QUT, Playworks, Playbox, and The Victorian College of the Arts. She is regularly invited to participate as a speaker and panelist on new media arts practice and theatre for children and young people and as a peer panelist for a range of State, Federal and Local Government Funding and curatorial panels.
Rose's work is focused around her capacity to isolate and focus on questions central to nurturing a culture of artistic creation and expression that is vital, relevant, provocative and inspiring. Her work is based in collaborations with a diverse range of artists who work in a range of both performance and non-performance based media.
